Liberia is unique because it attained independence in 1847 as the first nation in Africa to be independent. However, it happened 43 years after Haiti.
If “first black country to get its independence” is taken to mean the first country formed through revolution. The uprising was led by those who had been slaves. Then Haiti is definitely the country.
